Product Detail

Thank you for visiting my shop. This is a lidded jar with handles, recreating the traditional "Hajiki" (pottery) from the Kofun period. It features unique horn-shaped handles, and the knob on the lid is inspired by the form of a "Haso" (an ancient Japanese liquid vessel) found in "Sueki" ware. This piece is primarily designed as a powerful artistic ornament and decorative display vessel to bring the romance of ancient Japan into your space. Its defining and most captivating feature is the organic coloration, natural scorch marks, and fiery gradients born purely from the traditional open-firing technique. ※ Note on Functionality:While this vessel has been sealed (Medome) and tested twice over an open flame, allowing it to function as a traditional water-boiling pot (Mitate Chagama), ancient earthenware is highly delicate and requires advanced care. Compared to metal, it has low thermal conductivity, requires a specific knack, and takes a significant amount of time to boil water. Additionally, please be aware that this vessel does not have a pouring spout; if used for water, it must be scooped out using a ladle. Therefore, we highly recommend enjoying this masterpiece primarily as a decorative art object. During the firing process using charcoal or firewood, the piece may develop natural color variations, ash deposits, or scorch marks. Please appreciate these unique characteristics as part of the piece's individual personality and artistic character. Approximate Size: Outer Diameter: 18.5 cm (approx. 7.3 inches) Max Width (Including Handles): 24.0 cm (approx. 9.4 inches) Height: 14.0 cm (approx. 5.5 inches) Capacity: Recommended Capacity: 1.5 L Full Capacity: 2.0 L
